fresh cabbage—
he “hey baby”s me
with such a serious face

his eyes accented
with age spots—
how weary and pond
ice blue they are
when he takes off
his glasses . . .

morning mist
swarms like gnats
under every streetlamp—
the bus stop bench
bare and blending
into the shadows

  1. aloha Aubrie. the twisting use of a phrase or pairing of words in these lines is intriguing. the way each line adds layers of surprise meaning to what has been laid down previously—I like that. a lot. way cool. and fun. aloha
